A male was arrested and charged by Thames Valley Police for offences in their area, and with the assistance of Alton Targeted Patrol officers he was also charged for the attempt theft of a quad bike in the Bordon area.

Targeted Patrol officers from Alton, with the assistance of the local Game Keeper and the Police air support unit, detained two males in the East Worldham area who were driving across farm land causing damage to crops and hedging. Local officers contained the area whilst the Police Helicopter tracked the vehicles progress. The helicopter crew directed officers on the ground to the location of the vehicle when the offenders hid in woodland in an attempt to avoid the attention of the helicopter, both males were arrested.

The Hampshire Polices rural focus is clearly working and there have been successes.  However one of the farmer/ rural dwellers criticisms is that post codes do not work and police response units take too long to arrive or get lost.  The mapping system employed at the Call Centre is outstanding, but it lacks your local knowledge - road names some wood names or building names.
