‘It’s been going on for weeks. Why don’t the police do something about it?’

Because no one reported it is the answer. A common experience for all co-ordinators is to be told of incidents long after the event, accompanied by the question, ‘Should I have reported it?’ This is the message Neighbourhood Watch still needs to spell out to its members. All incidents of malicious damage should be brought to the attention of the police as soon as possible. Juvenile nuisance, intimidating behaviour by youths or suspicious vehicle activity are legitimate reasons for a 101 or 999 call as appropriate. With as much supporting information as possible, descriptions of the individuals or vehicles involved being particularly helpful.
